TOWN OF LINCOLN, VILAS COUNTY  

CODE OF ORDINANCES  

 

ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING AUTHORITY FOR THE JOINT MUNICIPAL FIRE COMMISSION TO CONDUCT FIRE INSPECTIONS IN TOURIST ROOMING HOUSES  

IN THE TOWN OF LINCOLN, VILAS COUNTY, WI. 

 

Title and Purpose  

The title of this ordinance is the Town of Lincoln Tourist Rooming House Fire Inspections. It is a sole Ordinance authorizing the Joint Municipal Fire Commission to conduct fire inspections on any and all known Tourist Rooming Houses and Short-Term Rentals in the Town of Lincoln. 

Authority & Enforcement 

The town board has the specific authority under §66.0119, 66.0435, 101.645, and 101.935, Wis. Stats., and the town’s village powers under §60.22, Wis. Stats., to adopt and enforce this ordinance.  

 The Town of Lincoln adopted Vilas County Zoning, and this ordinance conforms to Vilas County General Zoning Ordinance Article XII. 

 Definitions  

Tourist Rooming House (TRH): A single-keyed unit in which sleeping accommodations are offered for pay to tourists or transients. This does not include private boarding or rooming houses that do not accommodate tourists or transients, hotels, motels, or bed and breakfast establishments.In general, TRH establishments are vacation homes, cabins, and cottages that are rented out to tourists and transients.  

 Inspections 

The Joint Municipal Fire Commission must conduct fire inspections twice within twelve(12) months with at least a four(4) month interval between inspections.  

 

Effective Date 

This will become effective upon its passage.
